Terms of Use
Effective 15 October 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Jerry Fanelli ("we", "us"), the developer of DocUs: USMLE App Blocker ("DocUs", "the app"). By downloading or using DocUs you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
1. The licence
DocUs is licensed, not sold, to you under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple EULA"). These Terms add to the Apple EULA. If the two conflict, these Terms apply to the extent the Apple EULA allows. Apple is not responsible for DocUs or its content; we are.
2. What DocUs does
DocUs helps you study for USMLE Step 1 by keeping apps you choose blocked until you answer a question correctly. A right answer unlocks them for the time you choose. A wrong answer shows the explanation and a short wait before the next question, which grows after each wrong answer and resets after a right one. You can skip once a day.
DocUs uses Apple's Screen Time, which needs your permission and works only on the iPhone where you set it up. You can pause App guard in the app, or remove DocUs's Screen Time permission in iPhone Settings, at any time.
3. Not medical advice, no exam guarantee
The questions, answers and explanations are study material only. They are not medical advice and must not be used to diagnose or treat anyone. They may contain errors or become out of date. DocUs is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the USMLE program, the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) or the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB). USMLE is a program of the FSMB and NBME. We make no promise about your exam score or result.
4. Question content
DocUs's questions are adapted from ScholarRx Bricks, published by ScholarRx on the Brick Exchange under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). We took the questions from the bricks, removed formatting and grouped them by subject. The adapted questions are shared under the same licence, so you may reuse them under its terms. ScholarRx does not endorse DocUs. Everything else in DocUs (its design, code, mascot, name and logo) belongs to us and is not covered by that licence.
5. Subscriptions
DocUs requires a paid subscription after onboarding. Plans and prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency, and may change; a price change never applies to a period you've already paid for, and Apple will tell you before a higher renewal price applies.
- Payment: charged to your Apple account when you confirm the purchase.
- Auto-renewal: your subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancelling: manage or cancel in iPhone Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
- Refunds: Apple handles all payments and refunds under its terms. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves.
- Offers: a one-time discounted offer may be shown in the app. It is valid only when and where it's shown.
- Restore: if you reinstall DocUs or use another device with the same Apple account, tap Restore purchases.
6. Your use
You agree to use DocUs only for your own personal studying, and not to copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the app (except the question content, under its own licence), interfere with it, or use it to break any law. Don't rely on DocUs to block apps where blocking matters for safety or work; you are responsible for being reachable when you need to be.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what data DocUs keeps and sends, including pseudonymous usage analytics you can turn off in Settings.
8. Changes and availability
We may update, change or stop features, questions or the app. We may update these Terms; if a change is material, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, tell you in the app. Continuing to use DocUs after the change means you accept it. If you don't, stop using the app and cancel your subscription.
9. Disclaimer
To the extent the law allows, DocUs is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of content and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Screen Time blocking depends on Apple's iOS and may not work in every situation, for example after iOS updates, if permission is removed, or with apps Apple doesn't let us block.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost opportunities or exam outcomes, arising from your use of or inability to use DocUs. Our total liability for any claim relating to DocUs is limited to the amount you paid for DocUs in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you, and nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived.
11. Ending these Terms
You can stop using DocUs at any time by deleting it and cancelling your subscription. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously break these Terms. Sections 3, 4, 9, 10 and 12 continue after these Terms end.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled by the courts of the United Arab Emirates, unless mandatory consumer law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
13. Apple
You and we agree that Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for DocUs, and is not responsible for any claims relating to DocUs, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, or intellectual property claims. If DocUs fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for DocUs to you; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to DocUs.
